MathGroup:
Does Mathematica dynamically rearrange its $Path path strings without
user knowledge? I recorded a copy of $Path when I installed
Mathematica 5.0.1, but what I have now is not what I had then. There
is one new path to $TopDirectory\SystemFiles\Graphics\Packages which
got added, and another one to
$TopDirectory\AddOns\ExtraPackages\Utilities which was deleted. Also,
the order of the last four path strings is different from what it was
at installation time.
Could a crash (a hung Kernel which I could not stop) have produced
these results? Or is a hung FrontEnd responsible for $Path
mismanagement at abort time?
Is $Path automatically altered when a Context file is loaded?
To change $Path's order of path strings, is there a way to do this
other than rebuilding $Path in the Kernel (User) init.m file?
Regards,
Harold
