It's a long shot, but I thought I'd ask

The current FrontEnd for Linux, while functional, has blocky and
hard-on-the-eyes fonts. No anti-aliasing is performed by the Motif
FrontEnd. Interestingly enough, I can install the Mathematica TrueType ttf fonts
into my KDE desktop fine. They work great for other applications -- but
not Mathematica.

So, poor as I am, I have been putting off upgrading from 4.1 to 5. But if
there were a change to make the fonts less painful to my eyes in v5, I
would have to find the money to upgrade.

Sure, it's a pipe-dream. I don't think font-de-uglification is possible in
a Motif application (Qt and GTK can do it though -- hint, hint). But who
knows.

TIA,
Tim
