Can you go from -Infinity ?
Then it does not look so frightening:

Sum[(-1)^n*((2*n + 1)/
      ( z^2 + n*((n + 1)/2))),
    {n, -Infinity, Infinity}]

\!\(\(-2\)\ \((¹\ Cot[\(3\
       ¹\)\/4 - 1\/4\ ¹\ \@\(1 - 8\ z\^2\)] + ¹\
               Cot[\(3\ ¹\)\/4 + 1\/4\ ¹\ \@\(1 - 8\ z\^2\)])\)\)
