You can use Mathematica to produce high quality documents. It is not straightforward, but other type setting frameworks (TeX for instance) will similarly require you to invest some time in this task. Advantages of Mathematica : - graphics can be produced inline (i.e. your notebook can contain the source code for producing graphics - you don't nevertheless have to show it). This is very handy when making last minutes corrections. - images can be read by Mathematica, and then displayed ; this warants your images to be clearly understood by the system - you don't have the troubles you noticed, using drag and drop from MS Word. - if you use the system regularly, your style sheets get richer. - your notebooks can at the same time produce html or xml. Black spots : - running heads and empty pages are difficult to control ; - I have had to correct some cells by hand to generate a satisfying result.
