In[12] := Simplify[(a^2)^(3/2), Element[a, Reals]]


Out[12] = Abs[a]^3



In[10] := Simplify[(a^2)^(3/2), Element[a, Reals] && a >= 0]


Out[10] = a^3



The correct result is a^3 only when a is real and a>=0
