What version of Mathematica are you using?

Out[18]=

In[19]:=
InverseFourierTransform[FourierTransform[x^2, x, y], y, x]
Out[19]=
x^2
In[20]:=
Sqrt[2*Pi]*x^2*FourierTransform[DiracDelta[y], y, x]
Out[20]=
x^2
