If A <0 your answer is wrong! The integral does diverge. You are 
assuming that A>2. So simply tell this to Mathematica and you get the 
right answer:
Integrate[1/x^2, {x, 2, A}, Assumptions -> A > 2]  gives: 1/2-1/A
