That seems like a lot of programming relative to what you want to do...
Most@ReleaseHold@Map[Hold[#,{Last@#,Last@#}]&,Partition[Array[x,{200000}],2,1]];
Memory cleanup is handled by exiting constructs like Module, or
clearing the cache, etc...
