Actually, I did this.  

Now look again at the online help.

ListSurfacePlot3D requires a matrix of points and gives the required format
as {{{x11, y11, z11}, ...},{{x12, y12, z12}, ...}, ...}.  This means that it
requires a data set such that

	Dimensions@data = {n, m, 3}.

The last 3 is what the package is refering to when it says that you haven't
given it a triplet.  

Should Mathematica have spelt this out?  Possibly.
