In the regular Mathematica, version 5.2 (NOT the Teacher's Edition), I get:

   Factor[(5 - 3I) + (-4 + I)x + (1 - I)x^2]
((1 + I) - I*x)*((1 - 4*I) + (1 + I)*x)

(output shown in InputFormat above).
