For long calculations it is much better to run command-line (especially on servers managing a queue for batch jobs), and there is no reason why I should not use special symbols in the output plots. many graphical programs can run command-line while exporting special fonts to .eps output for example. > You must launch the FrontEnd form the kernel like webMathematica > does.
