We have checked the details of the 'Import from a Notebook
Wizard' and we are quite sure that it does not write to
the input notebook. It only writes to the output file.
However, it is possible in special circumstances to set
the output file to be the same as the input file and this
will overwrite. One way to do this is to select the
Advanced options and then to make a link back to the
original notebook.

We have reviewed the details of the Import Wizard and
have improved the wording of the various pages. We have
also disabled the Advanced options, and we have added
a check that the input file is not equal to the output
file. If they are then a warning dialog box will prompt
the user to confirm their action.

We apologize for the loss of the data in your file. If you
would like to discuss this problem further and have more
specific steps to reproduce the problem, please contact
Technical Support so that we can continue to investigate
this issue.
