Wrap the function with the prime sign within *HoldForm* as in

M[x_] := x^2 (* just to define M as a differentiable function *)
ListPlot[{1, 2, 3}, PlotStyle -> PointSize[0.04],
  AxesLabel -> TraditionalForm /@ {i, HoldForm@M'[i]}]
