In my answer below I forgot to mention that a "guide page" is also needed. The guide page is a Mathematica notebook with the links to rest of the documentation. In my Quantum Package, the guide page can be found in the folder (directory) $UserBaseDirectory/Applicatons/Quantum/Documentation/English/Guides; this location corresponds to the line Resources->{"Guides/Quantum"} in the PacletInfo.m file (the name of guide page -----Mensaje original----- De: Jose Luis Gomez [mailto:jose.luis.gomez at itesm.mx] Enviado el: Lunes, 17 de Diciembre de 2007 11:30 a.m. Para: mathgroup at smc.vnet.net CC: 'Jose Luis Gomez' Asunto: RE: [mg84245] Mathematica 6 Documentation - how does one add to it? I have already done this with my Quantum package for Dirac Notation in Mathematica It is very simple: You need to create an ASCII file called PacletInfo.m (in Windows an ASCII file can be created in the Notepad) with some specific information and place it in the correct folder. You could download my package, follow the instructions in order to install it, check that its documentation appears in the Documentation Center, then go to your $UserBaseDirectory/Applicatons/Quantum and see by yourself the content of my PacletInfo.m, then copy this file and modify it to make it work for your package. Download my package from this link: http://homepage.cem.itesm.mx/lgomez/quantum/index.htm http://homepage.cem.itesm.mx/lgomez/quantum I hope it is useful for you Jose Mexico -----Mensaje original----- De: Hans [mailto:reply-to-newsgroup-please at hotmail.com] Enviado el: S=E1bado, 15 de Diciembre de 2007 02:38 p.m. Para: mathgroup at smc.vnet.net Asunto: [mg84245] Mathematica 6 Documentation - how does one add to it? I have written a package I would like to pass someone else. I would like to install it in such a way that the documentation appears in the Documentation Center under 'Installed Add-ons' but I can't find out how best to do this, although I have managed to do it using a method I think is not reccomended in version 6. I have a Mathematica text book which was written before version 6 and it has a file called BrowserCategories.m which was used to add documentation to the Help Browser. This does work in version 6's Documentation Center, but I can find no reference to this file in Mathematica 6's documentation and the Function BrowserCategory is not documented in Mathematica 6, although it is on the web http://documents.wolfram.com/mathematica/Add-onsLinks/AuthorTools/Customi= zin gTheHelpBrowser/SettingUpNewBrowserCategories/TheBrowserCategoryCommand.h= tml but only on the obsolete version 5.2's help pages. Please reply to the news group, not to me personally as I don't read this email account. I don't need the spam that one attracts if posting to a news group with ones normal email address. Hans
