If you need to update your calculations after updating the data, you
might want to use delayed set rather than normal set (ie when
assigning expressions to variables use := instead of = ). This works
because in this case each variable gets evaluated when you call it. If
you use "=" then each variable gets evaluated immediately when you set
the value and so it doesn't matter what you later do with other
variables on which you want this one to depend.
