I don't have version 4.2 so I can discuss it.

I used to have installed version 4.0 before upgrading to 5.2

I found handreds of things that (especially regarding definite
symbolic and numerical integration; solution of ODEs and PDEs) that
version 5.2 handles properly on the contrary with version 4.0

Of course, version 5.2 does for example slower symbolic definite
integrals
because of searching harder for convergence but I don't think this is
a disadvantage!

In very few cases does version 5.2 give poorer result than version 4.0

Dimitris
