Hello. Well, fortunately, WRI seem to think like me. They have announced today in their blog ( http://blog.wolfram.com/2007/07/mathematica_601_arrives.html ) a new 6.0.1 version. Among the bug-fixed and improvements, it is: "We made many such improvements in 6.0.1--for example, greatly increasing the performance of ListPlot, ListPlot3D, and Plot3D for inputs involving a large number of data points." So I hope that now the code I posted (and all other involving ListPlot) can run faster. Can anyone from WRI run the example in 6.0.1 and tell us the numbers? Thanks.
