To be honest, I have never used the presentation facilities in 
Mathematica, but it seems that with Mathematica 6 it is very easy to 
create slide shows.  Here are the basic steps to get started:

1. File -> New -> Slide Show

2. Edit the cells, create content

3. Format -> Screen Environment -> Slide Show

4. Press F12 to go to fullscreen.

You are probably interested in how formatting is done, but I am not good 
with style sheets, so I cannot help you with them ...

Global magnification can be set at the bottom of the notebook window (a 
little up-arrow next to "100%").
