Presumably, the intent of art in a mathematics text is to illustrate some mathematical concept. That is, simply having a graphic with a nice appearance likely isn't going to be a satisfactory result. Depending on the level of the text, you just might squeak by with simple Mathematica commands to produce the graphic without much understanding of the math. But this will only work for fairly simple graphics. And the problem with this is if something isn't working correctly, it likely will go unnoticed without the understanding of the math. I wish you success in you endeavor. But trying to produce graphics for a math text with no significant understanding of the math sounds very much to me like a good way to get something quite a bit different than what be desired. -- To reply via email subtract one hundred and four
