What platform are you using? I think Copy As->PICT on Mac and Copy As-
>Metafile on Windows should copy a vector based image for Mathematica
graphics. Is it possible that whatever application you're pasting
into either doesn't accept a vector image or that it display a bitmap
on screen while uses the vector image while printing? What app are
you pasting into?
