I really would like to know if there is a shortcut to do this, but I am
afraid there is none (there is a list of all shortcuts somewhere in the
documentation and it might well be I have search it with no success some
years ago...). What I usually do is to move the cursor below the cell
with the Down-Arrow key and then use Shift-Up-Arrow to select the entire
cell (of course moving up and then shift-down works as well). This works
reasonable well and is usually less frustrating than using n-times
Ctrl-. with n something between 1 and 23 :-)
