Hi Szabolcs,

I took up your approach in the following form:

ImportTableNoComments[filename_] := Module[{tempfilename, res},
      tempfilename = filename <> "~";
      Run["grep", "-v", "^#", filename, ">", tempfilename];
      res = Import[tempfilename, "Table"];
      DeleteFile[tempfilename];
      Return[res];
      ];
