Compare:

Plot[{Sin[x], Cos[x]}, {x, 0, 2 Pi},
 PlotStyle -> {Green, AbsoluteThickness[5]}]

Plot[{Sin[x], Cos[x]}, {x, 0, 2 Pi},
 PlotStyle -> Directive[Green, AbsoluteThickness[5]]]
