Hi,
Transpose[RGB, {2, 3, 1}]
gives you al list of {redMatrix,greenMatrix,blueMatrix} and
you need
Transpose[RGB, {2, 3, 1}][[1]]
or you can use
Map[First,RGB,{2}]
to get the red channel.
