Is this as simple as 'Plot' vs 'P1ot'? If so, I usually find these
bugs by using completion in the editor, i.e. P1o<Ctrl>-k. If Mathematica beeps
at me, I know I have a mis-spelling.

Also, in V6, the editor colors stuff differently when it recognizes
it.
