Hello David,

Try

Button["Color...", Print[SystemDialogInput["Color"]]]

On Windows XP this works if you click on one of the _existing_
colours.
Moving the cursor round on the large continuous colour square seems to
be just for "adding custom color", so unless you do that, it has no
effect.
