Will,

There is a quick and easy way to reset one's copy of Mathematica to
the "factory settings".

Close out of Mathematica. Then, hold down the "Ctrl" and "Shift" keys
at the same time. Continue holding them for five seconds as you double
click the Mathematica icon and start up the application. Mathematica
will then display "Starting with Clean Preferences".
