graphic text style setting

Hi,

before v6 I set the text style for all the graphics and plots in a 
notebook with one command at the beginning of the notebook, e.g.
$TextStyle[{FontFamily -> "Arial", FontSize -> 16}];

In v6, that does not work anymore. How can I do such a thing in v6?
