status line in Manipulate

I want to write a Manipulate based program with Controls (eg sliders
and checkboxes) on the right and a status indicator line at the
bottom. Such a line can be inserted using Style or Dynamic (anything
with either of these Heads will be recognized as a control element by
manipulate). But in contrast to the standard control elements like
sliders etc, there is not such option like "ControlPlacement->Bottom"
for an individual placing of the element.

What can I do?
