Did NOT work for me.  Installed under 10.5.8, and progressively
updated to 10.5.11.  Upgraded to 10.6 and Mathematica would open but
not evaluate any cells (would just hang, even on 2 * 3).

However, as Paul above said, after quitting and starting Mathematica a
couple of times, it magically started working again.  Frustrating (and
yes, a bit scary for a moment), but it seems to be working quite well.

Incidentally, in case anyone cares, there does not seem to be a speed
increase, either running computations in a straight-forward manner or
running things in parallel.
