I recently discovered some of Mathematica's built-in image processing
commands from Jon McLoone's really interesting blog post:
http://blog.wolfram.com/2011/09/09/building-a-microscopy-application-in-mathematica/
If you are interested, you should download the notebook that is linked
at the end of the above post.
A really nice piece of work. However, I noted with this and some of my
own constructions that when a slider that draws a line or some of the
other interactive commands like locator change, the response is
incredibly slow. It seems that Mathematica is redrawing the image repeatedly.
This has even caused the Manipulate to go pink (error). Any suggestions?
