| Two quick things.
If you are trying to do 64-bit compilation and installed VS2010 SP1, you need to download a fix from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=4422. (VS2010 SP1 removes some 64-bit tools when it is installed. This fix replaces them.)
What files in the C:/Windows/System32 folder have names starting with "ml"?
I will do some other checking tomorrow.
