| This problem usually occurs because a Mathematica startup file is out-dated or corrupted.
You can usually resolve this problem by clean-starting Mathematica, instructions for which can be found at:
http://support.wolfram.com/kb/3274
Hold down
Windows: Control+Shift keys
Macintosh: Options+Shift keys
and start Mathematica.
Keep the keys held down until Mathematica opens.
Linux: start Mathematica with
mathematica -clean
