Are you carefully doing the DFT of an integral number of cycles of your system, not with part of a cycle at one end or not having stabilized at the other end?
The shape of your spectrum reminds me of examples where one or the other of those conditions are not met.
Fourier transforms make sense when your data consists of exactly m complete identical cycles.
