Sorry to dissapoint you, but in general you cannot from a single complex number.
If you have a list of complex numbers, or a complex function of some variable, e.g. time, you can trace and count the number of crossings of 2Pi (or zero) in the positive/negative direction and use information for "unwarapping".
I cannot help you more since you were not specific on the case
