When I start up Mathematica, three windows pop up initially: an untitled notebook, and two large unnamed windows that I can move around but cannot minimize. I expect the untitled notebook to appear, of course, but these other windows bug me because I can't minimize them. I can resize them, but only to make them larger than they already are, and they're already big!

If I issue "ps ax" in a terminal and look for Mathematica related processes, there are indeed three: Mathematica, MathKernel, and a java process that runs from the Mathematica tree.

Anyone know how these two rogue windows can be minimized, closed, or otherwise taken care of? I can scoot them partially off-screen, but that's sort of an obnoxious solution for a variety of reasons.

In case it's important, I'm running Fedora Core 7 with the Compiz window manager.
