-Select Preferences from the Edit menu.
-Click on the Evaluation Tab
-Make sure that the "Format Type of new Output Cells is set to StandardForm (* for some reason this is occasionally set to OutputForm during installation which yields the behavior you are seeing *)
-retry your graphing commands
