Hi All,
I was looking for roots of a function and used the 'Solve' command (combined with 'Assuming' to pass on parameter restrictions).
Solve returned two answers one of which was the root, while the other clearly wasn't (which Mathematica seems capable of verifying).
Despite returning a wrong solution Mathematica did not return as much as a warning, seriously denting my confidence in the reliability of its output.
Has anyone got a clue as to what might be happening? Am I missing something obvious?
Thanks in advance for your help - I attach the .m example file (I use Mathematica v.6.0.0 btw.)
