How can I get Mathematica to substitute one expression into another to simplify it?

For instance, if I have an expression like 48*A*B *(x^2 + 2) , how can I get Mathematica to replace 48*A*B with another symbol eg. C.

I need to be able to do this as I'm trying to simplify a very long expression which contains a lot of terms like this.
