There were versions compatible with Mathematica 2.0 which I converted(changing the input and output to the standard form for 3.0) and saved in my 3.0 directory. Now what do I do? I want to execute the algorithms but dont know how.

Much depends on what form the files are in. If they are packages, you should be able to load them as you would any other package and use the functions as per the original instruction. If they are notebooks, you should be able to open them in V3.0 and convert them. You might want to contact the author of the materials to see if he/she has V3.0 versions available.
