I'm a newbie to Mathematica and there is one confusing thing, at least now...
Sometimes the palette-symbols for Power, Integrate etc works and sometimes it
just produce textcodes like
\!\(\[SelectionPlaceholder]\^\[Placeholder]\)
I notice that when the palette works the group-symbol on the left
is shadowed and the menu-command Edit->Make 2D isn't ghosted.
When the textcodes appear the opposite is true.
How can I make the graphic environment as default and how do I
convert a textgroup to graphic?
