to perform a simulation of a somewhat involved situation I am very interested in solving a system of about 2000 coupled differential equations. This high number is required to obtain the necessary accuracy. Using only about 300 differential equations works fine for this problem but as I increase the number of equations I get the message "Recursion depth of 256 exceeded" and the kernel quits.

Increasing the recursion limit does not seem to help. Do you know what the problem is and how to solve it?
