Ive been trying to implement a calculation of the general form of the Mie scattering cross section for a dielectric sphere.
The Mathematica 7.0 computation (see attached) never seems to converge. ive tried playing around with Working Precision, etc (perhaps not effectively). but I am stuck, as I keep adding terms in the sum series (calculated with a For Loop), the sum keeps getting larger.
I am benchmarking against a known solution, So I know the series calculation results gets more wrong as the number terms are increased...perhaps it is carrying over round off error and such...
Any suggestions on what I can do to get convergence with some Mathematica Numerical configuration?
