Hi,

I am relatively new to using Mathematica and I am having a bit of trouble inverting a complex matrix (8x8). After I do the inversion I would like to take the (1,1) element and do some further calculations, however this element is output as a huge multiplication of complex numbers. It seems like Mathematica has applied a formula for inverting the matrix but has then not simplified the resulting expression into the form a+i*b. I need the real and complex parts for further calculations.

I include a shorter version of my code here for consideration...

Thanks,

Jason
