Leibniz's notation

Hi,
I'm a beginner to Mathematica. I would like to use the Leibniz's notation in my differential equation. I have tried it in Mathematica but it only works when I use the input from in point 1 (picture.png). When I try the form in point 2, I get an error. Isn’t this form supported or am I doing something wrong?
