hi, I think my question is pretty basic, but I haven't been able to find anything online to help me. Here's the question. Say I have an expression:

f = x^2 + x^2*y

and i want to use mathematica to extract the coefficient for the x^2 term. If I use the command

Coefficient[f, x^2]

mathematica gives me 1+y, which is correct, but not what I wanted. I want the coefficient of only the x^2 term. Any ideas on how to get that? the actual expressions that I am dealing with are pretty complicated, but this is he crux of my problem. Thanks!
