 Author Comment/Response Sanjaya Kumar 05/17/12 09:47am Solve[Abs[(1/(1 + I x))] == 1/2, x] gives the complex solutions: {{x -> -I}, {x -> 3 I}}, but not the Real valued solutions which I can obtain as follows: Solve[1/(1 + x^2)^(1/2) == 1/2, x] which gives: {{x -> -Sqrt[3]}, {x -> Sqrt[3]}} Putting "Reals" as the third argument to the first equation does not work -- it complains about non real constants. How do I get the first equation to generate Real valued solutions? Thanks. URL: ,
