x^2 + y^2 = 1 should graph to be a 3D cylindar with radius 1 but I can only get it to be a plane or a list of errors.

I have tried making it a function in various ways and have been through the help section but I can't find what I am doing wrong. z = x^2 graphs like I would expect....
