Please post a nice specific concrete example.

Pick an explicit set of simple basis functions, a nice and not wildly complicated specific f, a reasonably small specific constant for n (not N which is a built in Mathematica function that really does not like being used as a variable and will cause you untold grief when you do use it as that)...

and then take the time to by hand work out exactly what the solution to all this should be.

With that someone should be able to look at all this and automate the process so that you should be able to do this for other (fairly simple) examples.
