>I read on the web page that the two versions are very similar. Are the differences that are being referred to between the student version and Mathematica 3.0 or 4.0? This means a big difference for me. Also, are there less built in funcitons? Thanks. Please don't refer me to another page because i have looked and haven't found anything helpful for my questions. Thanks a lot again.

As far as the software is concerned there is no difference
between the Professional version and the Student version.
There are several difference between version 3.0 and 4.0.
See the Mathematica webpage for details about the differences.

With the Professional License, you have optional service
plans and you get a copy of the Mathematica Book.

In order to use the Student Version you must be a full
time student. Also several Mathematica Applications are
only $50 for students!!
